Los Cristianos Tenerife
Travel 15km's west from Reina Sofia the islands southern airport and you will find the resort of Los Cristianos, which is one of the most popular destinations for holidays in Tenerife, and infact one of the most popular holiday resorts in the Canary Islands.
Originally one of Tenerife's busy fishing ports, some of it's original buildings still survive, but are almost lost among the new developments. Los Cristianos is a lively resort with good beaches (for which sand was shipped in), a lovely Harbour area where you can sit have a relaxing drink in one of the many bars and watch the world go by. Or maybe hire a boat, go one of the many excursions such as the coastal cruises or book a diving lesson. A ferry also operates from the harbour to the nearby island of La Gomera.
Nightlife here is fairly high paced, there is a huge number of pubs, bars, restaurants and night clubs to choose from. Eating out is good value and many of the restaurants that line the promenade serve locally caught sea food.
For family's there is the nearby Aqua Park and a short trip will take you to Tenerife Zoo, so there's plenty to keep the whole family occupied.
The beach in Los Cristianos is located near the Harbour, it is sheltered and the water is calm which is great for swimming. Another popular beach can be found just a few minutes walk from Los Cristianos town centre, this is Las Vistas beach, again it is sandy and sheltered, offers a good range of facilities and is considered by many as one of the best that Tenerife has to offer.
When you've had enough of soaking up the sun head for the town center, which is the best for shopping in the south of Tenerife, as well as the vast array of duty free shops there is also a regular Sunday market.

The selection of hotels and apartments in Los Cristianos is excellent from good basic hotels to five star luxury. There are also plenty of superb privetely owned villas and spacious apartments on offer many with their own pools and gardens, or part of a complex offering great facilities.
